Remembering Thomas Disch
It cannot be
that I am still hungry
My stomach has teeth.
It is a cauldron that bubbles,
with gases gurgling
and bubbling for relief
with a vacuous, mirthful flutter,
and a wild roar
followed by a soft mutter,
My nose vaporizes moons,
watering my eyes with grief
* Written while reflecting on Thomas Disch's book, The Castle of Indolence, about poets' laziness.
