Keep out!
The sign announces
At the end of a driveway
Nailed to a tree
The yard around the old mobile home
Contains three trucks and seven cars
Weeds sprouting through grills
And wheel wells like the hair
In an old man’s ears and nose
Discarded flower pots
Forgotten bins of rusted things
A pair of underwear hangs
from the handle on a weather-beaten mower
missing its wheels
There’s a pile of dilapidated wood
that used to be a picnic table
Where is the treasure that needs protection?
Is it hiding in plain sight like a well-placed lie?
Maybe if I put a hand over one eye…

If you know it, you see it. 😉
There is an old pair of underwear hanging from the lawnmower in the pic. At odd times in my life, that old pair of dirty drawers could’ve come in handy.
I believe we share similarly themed moments in our pasts. 😅
Great poem, and yes, I think it is hiding in plain sight. I am guessing it is a need for solitude / privacy.
